Fracture resistance of refractory castable
Cracks may occur in refractory lining during service, so it is very important to know the extent of refractory resistance to crack propagation. The advantages of advanced pourable system over compact conventional castables and bricks can be easily seen by comparing the WOF values. Low Cement Castables have the best fracture resistance below 1100 C. Ultra-low cement and cement-free products produce better values at higher temperatures. The main advantage of these castables for users is that they are tougher than other similar refractories such as bricks, plastic refractories or traditional castables. Many applications of refractory castables require wear resistance or corrosion of castables. Most of these applications are in the range of moderate to low temperatures (below 1100 degrees Celsius). For wear-resistant applications, advanced pourable systems such as low cement, ultra-low cement, high cement, low moisture and chemically bonded castab
